Chicago White Sox World Series ring, 2005
A 14K yellow gold 2005 World Series Championship ring awarded to the Chicago White Sox and produced for the Commissioner. The ring has a 14-karat white gold insert and the White Sox crest (SOX) on a black onyx base stone. The ring also contains 95 clear stones (zirconium) of various sizes highlighting SOX and circling the onyx. One side is die-stamped "World Champions 2005 / 11-1". The other side is die-stamped: "Selig 99-63 / Comm.". Inside is engraved "Commissioner Allan H. "Bud" Selig" and "14K Jostens".
The Chicago White Sox defeated the Houston Astros four games to zero to win the 2005 World Series. This was one of the 432 rings (and 163 pendants). Pendants were issued to female staff and wives. In addition, the White Sox club chairman, Jerry Reinsdorf presented watches to the 25 players on the active roster, the staff and clubhouse workers. The rings and pendants were designed by Martyk Reinsdorf, wife of Jerry Reinsdorf.
