DescriptionSterling silver trophy shaped like a crown mounted atop a wooden base painted black. Crown portion features small baseballs around the base with a larger baseball at each of the points of the crown at the top. There is a diamond-shaped placard at the base of the crown engraved with "GHR 1921 AD." Crown itself is engraved with "King Ruth / As a token of their esteem and in behalf of those whose names appear here on this crown is presented to 'Babe' Ruth 'King of Swat' / Babe Ruth Crown Committee / Designed by Frank H. Ellison." Crown also features engraved names around the exterior. Bottom of the base has green felt padding.
Bio/Historical NoteFollowing the 1921 season, admiring fans presented Babe Ruth with this silver crown, adorned with 59 baseballs, one for each home run he hit that record season: nine atop the points, 49 around the base and one (with a bat) in the center.
