A black-and-white photograph of Bob Feller, shown from the knees up, wearing a naval dress uniform. Feller stands with his left hand by his side while his right arm is slightly extended in front of his body. Due to the lack of visible rankings on the uniform this photo was taken at the beginning of Feller's military career before earning any commendations. The featured naval dress uniform is identifiable by the exaggerated lapel, the double breasted design and the characteristic eight buttons. In addition, Feller wears a white visor cap with the United States Navy insignia on the front. The color indicates that Feller enlisted. Feller's body is turned away from the camera, to his right. Feller does not establish eye contact, and his gaze is directed down to the floor in front of him. The close cropping of the photo suggests that this portion was originally part of a larger image. The facial features of Feller and the outline of his coat have been enhanced to be more legible upon publication. Due to the absence of a wedding ring on his left hand this photo was captured after December 10, 1942, the date of his enlistment and before January 18, 1945, the date of his wedding.
