Date1960
DescriptionA typed letter on Boston Red Sox letterhead from Tom Yawkey to Charles Nitsche, August 20, 1960. Yawkey is writing back to Nitsche thanking him for his interest in the Red Sox and happy that he attends the Corning Red Sox games. He saId that if he continues to play ball and bats and throws like Ted [Williams], he hopes he will also hit like Ted and become a really great ball player. It is signed "Sincerely Yours, T.A. Yawkey." The bottom states that he is including an autographed card (not shown). The original envelope is addressed to Nitsche, postmarked August 20, 1960, Boston, Mass. The verso has Yawkey's name and Boston Red Sox, Fenway Park, Boston 15, Massachusetts. Included with the donated letter, was a Corning Baseball Club ticket stub, #05285. The ticket is printed on yellow stock paper with black print. The front includes the team name, "Rain Check" conditions and the verso has the ticket terms and conditions.
