DescriptionA black-and-white half-length posed photograph of Brooks Robinson batting. Robinson, shown in profile, from the waist up, wears a Baltimore Orioles jersey and baseball cap. Posed in his batting stance, Robinson places right hand over left on the grip of the bat, holding the bat chest height in front of his body. Robinson looks forward over his front left shoulder, directing his gaze to a point in the distance and to the right of the camera. Taken on the field, bleachers can be seen in the background. Due to the size and scale of these, this photograph was not taken in a professional stadium but was most probably taken during Spring training. Based on the specific design of the uniform worn by Robinson, this image was captured between 1958, the first year Baltimore introduced jerseys with numbers on the front, and 1962, the year the team retired the smiling Oriole logo seen on the left sleeve of his jersey. In the bottom left corner of the photograph is a sticker that references either the photographer or photography studio that took this photograph.
