TrannscriptionFeb. 25th 1951 Dear Lois: Enjoyed your letter last fall very much although you wouldn't think so from the length of time i have taken to answer. Here it is almost spring and the ball clubs are starting to report for training. Guess your winter has been very severe and you would welcome some real sunshine. We have had a fairly mild season although we need rain badly. Have not seen much of the girls this winter as they are all working so we have not played any golf or had any workouts on Sundays. The girls I believe are beginning to show some signs of age as they don't seem quite so anxious to get out to play. Have been busy at the Race tracks this year as they have been here most of the time since Nov. 1st. Suppose you are busy at the grocery and looking forward to the time you can go fishing. Ziggy tells me you won't be playing baseball this coming year. Can't tell you how sorry I am you won't be back for I know how you really loved it. Can say that we all enjoyed having you with us and sincerely hope you can keep the mem- ories of your year of girls Big-League baseball in your heart for many years to come. Maybe we can see you again sometime. Am not absolutely sure I will go back to the A.A.G.P. B.B.L but if I do i will be in Peoria. Not much of a ball club to start with but the town would support a fairly good club very well. Rather imagine the league will be quite different from now on. Not for the better. Well, Lois, I hope you are feeling real chipper and that your next few months will see you enjoying the same hustle you gave us all last year. Stay in there and pitch and drop a line once in awhile. The very best from Mrs. Rawlings and myself. Sincerely, Johnny. Transcription created by volunteers in 2020 during the pandemic.
