DescriptionA full-length sequential color photograph of Chipper Jones batting. Jones, wearing an Atlanta Braves home uniform, batting gloves, and helmet is depicted in a series of four positions, demonstrating his range of movement from his batting stance to his follow through position. From right to left, Jones, facing the camera, stands with his feet apart and knees bent, looking over his front right shoulder in the direction of the oncoming ball. In this preparatory position Jones places his left hand over his right on the grip of the bat, holding it above and perpendicular to his left shoulder. Rotating and shifting his weight, swinging the bat, Jones bends his back left leg while straightening his arms, holding the bat waist height on his left side. Looking forward and down, Jones prepares to make contact with the ball. Entering his follow through position, completing his swing, Jones, through rotation, modifies his standing position. Placing his right foot in front of his left, leaning backwards, Jones supports his weight on his bent back left leg. Continuing to looks downwards, Jones extends both arm straight in front of his body chest height. Depicted in profile, identifiable by the last name and number 10 on the back of his jersey, Jones enters into his follow through position. Adopting a lunge position with his right left in front of his left, Jones directs his gaze forward and up, following the trajectory of the ball. Twisting his upper body to his right, Jones holds the bat above and perpendicular to his right shoulder. Captured in-game, an occupied stadium is visible in the background. The 1999 creation date has been assigned by the photographer. Visible in the lower left corner of the image is a Major League Baseball and a Photo File, Inc. 2000 copyright logo, as well as a Major League Baseball Players Association logo. Stamped on the reverse (not shown), in blue ink, is copyright information attributing this photograph to CAPS (Coalition to Advance the Protection of Sports Logos).
