DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Mel Ott of the New York Giants captured sliding into third base as the Cincinnati Reds third baseman, Billy Werber, races to the bag in an attempt to tag Ott. Ott has a small smirk on his face as he beats Werber to third base by tagging the base with his left foot. Werber has a straight face and has his baseball glove squeezed shut. Ott is dressed in a New York Giants home uniform and Werber is dressed in a Cincinnati Reds road uniform. This photograph was taken on June 6 1939 at the Polo Grounds in New York, N.Y.
