The caption (not shown) reads "Accompanied by Mrs. Ruth, Babe Ruth arrived in New York April 27 returning from Hollywood, Cal., where he portrayed himself in a film biography of Lou Gehrig. As he stepped from the train, the Babe, who recently recovered from a siege of pneumonia, was smoking an old pipe which he said was about 40 years old and has been given to him by a Hollywood friend. 'I'm feeling pretty good but I don't have my full strength yet,' the king of swat said."
