BiographyRon Carothers was American-born but relocated to Australia and became a citizen in the 1990s. He moved to Australia in 1985 after being recruited by Essendon Baseball Club. When the Australian Baseball League was formed in the late 1980s, ­Carothers, an outfielder, was signed by the Waverley Reds. Carothers has been a junior coach at Cheltenham for 20 years and has coached ­numerous state teams. He won two ABL premierships - the second after he joined the Monarchs - was an ABL all-star and travelled all over the world when he played for Australia. He was the editor of "Baseball Australia: The Official Journal of the Australian Baseball Federation Inc."--heraldsun.com.au.
