BiographyFrank Carswell was a leftfielder and pinch hitter for the Detroit Tigers in 1953. Additionally, he played basketball in the NBL, predecessor of the NBA. Carswell played 14 years with distinction in the minors, hitting .337 with over 200 home runs. He led the 1949 Big State League with 229 hits and 145 RBI. In 1950, he led the same league with 51 doubles and a .400 average. In 1952, he missed the triple crown in the International League by 12 RBI, leading the league with 30 home runs and a .344 average. He managed in the Minor Leagues, primarily in the International League, from 1957-1970.
