Letter from Frank Baker to Paul Kerr

DescriptionA handwritten letter from Frank "Home Run" Baker to Paul Kerr, president of the Baseball Hall of Fame, dated August 22, 1961. The top has Baker's address "Trappe, MD," with the date below. To the left it is addressed to "Mr. Paul Kerr, pres., Base Ball Hall of Fame, New York, NY." Baker thanks Kerr for all the kindness he has shown to him and was sorry he could not make the game in Cooperstown and perhaps his doctor was right. He was also sad to miss the Old Timers game in New York and the Little League play off in Williamsport. He writes that he is better and able to be out and around. He tells Kerr that it is nice to see that he is "President" and no one could fill it better. It is signed "Frank Baker." At the top, stamped in blue, it reads "Received Aug 26, 1961, 149 Broadway, N.Y. City." The verso (not shown) is blank.
