DescriptionA letter dated March 1, 1939 from Robert Doubleday, a relative of Abner Doubleday, to the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum explaining the history of the brass tuba that he is donated to the Hall (B-59-58-1). The tuba was played by Abner's second cousin William Doubleday Jr. of Cooperstown, NY while serving in the regimental ban attached to Company G, 66th Infantry, New York Volunteers during the Civil War. The letter is typed on Robert F. Doubleday letterhead.
