DescriptionA black-and-white, head-and-shoulders photograph of Philadelphia Athletics manager Connie Mack with an inscription written by Mack to Howard Ehmke. The caption at the bottom of the photograph (not shown) reads, "Philadelphia: Howard Ehmke breaks a 23 year silence to reveal the existence of a tribute he received from Connie Mack for his historic victory in the first game of the 1929 World Series. This picture with the following inscription, 'To Howard Ehmke whom I consider the greatest pitching Artist of his day. Your pitching in the first game of the World Series of 1929 when you broke all records in striking out thirteen of the Cubs gave me the thrill that will always be remembered by me,' has been kept secret by Ehmke since 1932." It is not known when this photograph was taken.
