Babe Ruth Batting photograph

Date1935 March 05
DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Babe Ruth during what appears to be batting practice. He is wearing part of his Boston Braves uniform and swinging through a pitch. In the background there is a full crowd in the stands and possibly reporters or photographers on the field. The caption on the back (not shown) reads, "The Bambino misses one. Babe Ruth took a vicious slash at this one as it crossed the plate but the ball eluded his bat and nestles in the catcher's mitt. The picture was made Mar. 5 at St. Petersburg, Fl., where 3,000 fans turned out to see the Babe's initial appearance in a Boston Braves uniform." Based on his time with the Braves, this photograph was taken in 1935.
