Wagner is dressed in a suit and is holding out his hat in his right hand, while his left arm rests on the barrel of the cannon. Travis park is visible in the background. The caption on the back of the photograph (not shown) states, "Honus Wagner, coach of Pittsburgh Pirates baseball team and at one time, the greatest shortstop in baseball, poses beside a Confederate cannon in Travis Park. San Antonio, Texas. Published March 9, 1936." Based on the caption, this photograph was taken on approximately March 9, 1936.
