DescriptionA souvenir scorecard for a two-game series played by the Chicago Colleens and Springfield Sallies on August 21st and 22nd of 1949. The series was sponsored by "The Scranton Times." The scorecard's cover features an illustration of a baseball with "Girls Baseball" in bold font. The baseball is surrounded by seven female baseball players in a variety of poses, which starting from the top and going clockwise are: batting, leaping for a ball, running, pitching, tagging a base and throwing, fielding a grounder, and a catcher catching. In a pentagon below the illustration is text reading "Souvenir Scorecard / 2 Games / Sunday Aug. 21, 3 P. M. / Monday Night, Aug, 22, 8:15 Price 10c" and the AAGBBL logo. In the lower right corner is text reading "Chicago Colleens vs. Springfield Sallies - Sponsored by The Scranton Times - Net Proceeds to the Community Chest." The inside features a blank scorecard, as well as a photograph and biography for Anna Mae O'Dowd of the Chicago Colleens and Norene Arnold of the Springfield Sallies. The back of the scorecard features an advertisement for the Scranton Community Chest.
