DescriptionNavy blue cap, size 7 1/2, with "NY" embroidered in white on the front. Underside of the bill is green with "35" handwritten in blue ink near the sweatband. Interior white cloth sweatband has a manufacturer label in the rear with a sizing tag to the proper right side.
Bio/Historical NoteWearing this cap on July 4, 1984, Phil Niekro of the New York Yankees notched his 3,000th career strikeout by throwing a knuckleball past Rangers batter Larry Parrish and catcher Butch Wynegar. Although Parrish reached first base safely on the "dropped" third strike, the "K" still counted.
