DescriptionRed wool varsity-style jacket with brown leather sleeves and red, blue and white striped hem, cuffs and collar. Inner lining is leather. There is a circular red, white and blue "All Americans" patch on the proper left chest with a red, white and blue shield-shaped flag symbol with stars and stripes. Front of the jacket has eight red buttons and two diagonal side pockets. Interior back of the neck has a black rectangular label with gold stitching, "AG Spalding & Bros." There is a loop for hanging above this. Interior proper left bottom edge has a white fabric label sewn into the leather lining with "Berg" embroidered in brown stitching.
Bio/Historical NoteAll Americans jacket worn by Moe Berg during the 1934 Tour of Japan. Berg wore this official tour warm-up jacket throughout the American club's travels in the fall of 1934, from cool October days spent on board the ship to December contests at the tour's final stop in the Philippines. The party included future Hall of Famers Earl Averill, Lou Gehrig, Charlie Gehringer, Lefty Gomez, Connie Mack, Jimmie Foxx and Babe Ruth, along with several other American Leaguers.
