DescriptionA letter from Jackie Robinson to Horace Stoneham dated January 14, 1957 requesting to be placed on the voluntary retired list. He assures Stoneham that his retirement has nothing to do with his trade from the Brooklyn Dodgers. Below Robinson's text is a typed endorsement and request approval from Warren Giles, President of the National League, dated January 16, 1957. A letter is signed by both Robinson and Giles and is typed on Chock Full o' Nuts letterhead.
