DescriptionA black-and-white full-length action photograph of Brooks Robinson fielding. Robinson, left, wearing a Baltimore Orioles road uniform, is shown in profile. Kneeling with both knees at third base, Robinson reaches forward with his bare right hand to make contact with Willie Tasby who is sliding to third. Robinson raises his gloved left hand shoulder height on his left side. He looks forward and up to umpire John Rice who stands behind both players. Tasby, right, identifiable by the number 1 on the reverse of his Washington Senators home jersey, slides on his right hip to third. With his bent left arm raised face height, Tasby places his right hand on the baseline for support. Tasby looks to Rice as well. The orange parallel lines visible on the surface of the photograph are not original and exist as modifications made for publication, indicating where the photograph is to be cropped. Pasted on the reverse (not shown) is a clipping of the published newspaper caption for this photograph that reads, "HE'S SAFE-Brooks Robinson, Orioles third baseman, looks to umpire John Rice for support but Rice gives the safe signal to Senator's Willie Tasby who raced to third from second on a passed ball in Washington Thursday night. Tasby then scored the game's only run on Dale Long's double." Stamped on the reverse (not shown), in purple ink, is the date, "JUL 8 1961."
