A caption below the photo reads: "The new team addition to the National League and the new manager Casey Stengel presented this picture as pitchers and catchers left the clubhouse to start their spring training today. Roger Craig, obtained from the Los Angeles Dodgers is under Casey's bat as they get away." A second caption, found on the back of the photo reads: "New York's new National League team, the Mets, takes to the field at St. Petersburg training camp as manager Casey Stengel uses his bat as a starter's flag. Roger Craig, obtained from the Dodgers is under Casey's bat."
