The caption (not shown) reads "A warmup pitch by Walter Johnson (right) goes into right field for a practice single at the Polo Grounds [Yankees Stadium], New York, Aug. 23, 1942 as the one and only George Herman "Babe" Ruth unwinds from his swing. The umpire is Bill Klem, dean of 'em all, and the catcher is Roger Bresnahan, former New York Giants backstop and one of the all time greats. They took part in war bond game." A right fielder, center fielder, and umpire can be seen in the outfield. A crowd is visible in the stands.
