DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Helen Ruth with daughter Dorothy. The caption (not shown) reads "The secret is out. Babe Ruth has a baby! For sixteen months the big Bambino has been keeping it a secret and now we know why the Babe was so rampant with home runs last season and started the season so poorly. Last season it was the pride of having a baby even though the little girl did only weigh two and a half pounds at birth. Mrs. Ruth took the baby to the Polo Grounds yesterday accompanied by a nurse. Of course there was a laugh right away. Babe being in Cleveland. Mrs. Ruth got sore and wouldn't let the photographers even get a peep at Dorothy. Here however is the first and exclusive photo of baby Dorothy, healthy, fat and happy with her mother."
