DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Monte Irvin, dressed in a New York Giants uniform, sliding into base at the 1951 World Series. The image caption on the reverse reads, "Man of Steal. Yankee Stadium, NY: New York Giants Monte Irvin, the hittingest, stealingest, man on the field in the first two games of the 1951 World Series, gives one of his lightning larceny performances in the second inning of the second Series game, Oct. 5. Monte stole home in the opening game, making it the sixth payoff steal of the season, and has batted seven for nine in the first two games. Yanks took the second game, 3-1, to even the Series."
