DescriptionA black-and-white, head and shoulders photograph of Monte Irvin dressed in a New York Giants uniform. The image caption on the reverse (not shown) reads, "Grand Slammer. Monte Irvin (above), outfielder recalled to the New York Giants from Jersey City, May 16, hit a grand slam home run in sixth inning of game with Chicago Cubs, at the Polo Grounds, New York, May 18, to give the Giants a 10-4 victory. Game was halted at end of sixth inning due to rain. Irvin also hit a single which accounted for another Giant run."
