DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Francis Joseph "Frank" "Lefty" O'Doul posing for a head and shoulders portrait. O'Doul smiles and looks to the right of the camera. O'Doul wears a San Francisco Seals uniform. The location of the photograph is unidentified. On the reverse (not shown), at caption states, "WILL SUCCEED BILL TERRY AS GIANTS' MANAGER NEW YORK CITY-- FRANK JOSEPH (LEFTY) O'DOUL, WHO IS SLATED TO SUCCEED BILL TERRY AS MANAGER OF THE NEW YORK GIANTS. HORACE C. STONEHAM'S DECISION TO BRING BACK TO THE POP GROUNDS THE HARD-HITTING FIELDER WHO HELPED BAT THE GIANTS TO THE WORLD'S CHAMPIONSHIP IN 1933 MAY GIVE TERRY A CHANCE TO FULFILL HIS LONG-CHERISHED AMBITION FOR A FRONT-OFFICE JOB WHILE FINISHING OUT HIS CONTRACT, WHICH STILL HAS A YEAR TO RUN, FOR O'DOUL WILL PROBABLY TAKE OVER THE MANGERSHIP OF THE TEAM THIS WINTER IF SO, TERRY CAN DEVOTE SOME TIME TO THE GIANTS' LIMPY FARM SYSTEM. IN ANY CASE, THE RETURN OF THE COLORFUL O'DOUL TO THE GIANT FOLD WILL BRING BACK A BIT OF THE GLAMOR OF THE OLD DAYS WHEN THE MCGRAWMEN WERE THE IDOLS OF THE CITY AND THE NATION. 7/25/41."
