Mel Ott, Bill Terry, and Lefty O'Doul photograph

Dateprobably 1933
DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of, from left to right, Mel Ott, Bill Terry and Lefty O'Doul standing at the edge of a dugout at the Polo Grounds in New York City. Ott has a small smile, crossed arms, and is propping up a baseball bat. Part of the image has torn away over his face. Terry has a look of determination on his face and has his left arm resting on top of his knee while holding a baseball bat in his free hand. O'Doul is looking forward with a slight smile and is holding a baseball bat on his right side. Ott, Terry and O'Doul are all dressed in New York Giants home uniforms. Two unidentified Giants players are in the background on the dugout bench. A newspaper clipping is affixed to the back of the photograph (not shown) and states, "Mel Ott, left, with Bill Terry, when they were the most dangerous No. 3 and No. 4 hitters in the National League." Based on Ott, Terry and O'Douls uniforms and their time with the Giants as well as a date stamp on the reverse (also not shown), this photograph was probably taken in 1933.
