DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Connie Mack captured sitting in a wheelchair with a blank wrapped around him waving. A newspaper clipping is affixed to the back of the photograph (not shown) and states, "A Wave From Connie Connie Mack, 92-year-old former owner-manager of the Philadelphia Athletics baseball club in the American League, waves from his wheelchair Oct. 21, at Presbyterian Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa., where he has been confined since Oct. 1, after he fractured his hip in a fall at his home in Philadelphia. He suffered an injury to his nose, shown here as still swollen, recently when he had another fall, this time from a hospital bed. A hospital spokesman said the second fall did not aggravate the hip injury." Based on the newspaper clipping and additional information stamped on the reverse (not shown) this photograph was taken on October 21, 1955.
