DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Mel Ott captured in profile. Ott has smile on his face and is looking off into the distance. He is dressed in a New York Giants road uniform. A newspaper clipping is affixed to the back of the photograph (not shown) and states, "Photo from files shows former major league baseball great Mel Ott who was critically injured with his wife when they were involved in a two-car collision near here Nov. 14. The driver of the other car, Leslie F. Curry, SR., 50, was killed instantly. Officials of Hancock County Hospital here said that Ott suffered fractures to both legs, lacerations, and possible internal injuries. Mrs. Ott sustained concussions, a fractured left forearm, lacerations, and possible internal injuries." Based on Ott's uniform and his time with the Giants, this photograph was taken between 1940 and 1947.
