Dan Brouthers Plaque photograph

Datebetween 1945 and 1950
DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Dan Brouthers' bronze National Baseball Hall of Fame induction plaque. The upper-half of the plaque features a framed bas-relief portrait of Brouthers. Depicted from the shoulders up, wearing a baseball jersey, Brouthers is shown with his head turned slightly to his left, looking to a point in the distance. Behind this frame are two baseball bats oriented on a diagonal, with the knobs seen to the left of Brouthers and the end caps to the lower right. On the opposite diagonal, behind the plaque, is a leafed branch. Below is the player's first and last name with a summation text of his career accomplishments that reads, "DAN BROUTHERS HARD-HITTING FIRST BASEMAN OF EIGHT MAJOR LEAGUE CLUBS, HE WAS PART OF ORIGINAL "BIG FOUR" OF BUFFALO. TRADED WITH OTHER MEMBERS OF THAT COMBINATION TO DETROIT, HE HIT .419 AS CITY WON ITS ONLY NATIONAL LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP IN 1887." Four holes can be seen in each corner of the plaque, for where it is to be mounted to the wall in the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum Plaque Gallery. Based on the induction year of Brouthers, this image was captured between 1945, the year he was inducted, and 1950, the year this photograph was accessioned by the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum.
