DescriptionA typed image caption on the reverse (not shown) reads, "Memorial to the late Adrian C. Anson, to be unveiled in Oakwoods Cemetery, Chicago, Sunday morning, September 16th, with impressive ceremonies. Anson was the outstanding figure of baseball of all time, and the National League has erected this monument as a tribute to the memory of its great son. State and City Officials will be there. Judge Landis, President John Heydler of the National League, Ex-Governor Tener of Pennsylvania, Billy Sunday, and Wm. Denver, Mayor of Chicago, will deliver brief addresses. This occasion will also be marked by the most notable gathering of famous ball players of the old days ever assembled in the history of the game. Four decades will be represented. Dan Brouthers, Amos Rusie, Gore, Hanlon, Ward, Ryan, Hardie Richardson, Baldwin, Dahlen, Chance, Griffith, McGraw, Wagner and a score or more of others."
