DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Mel Ott, center, captured standing outside with a group of unidentified gentlemen. Ott, dressed in a suit and overcoat, has a large smile and has his hands placed in his coat pockets. The unidentified gentlemen are captured smiling. A newspaper clipping is attached to the back of the photograph (not shown) and states, "Mel Ott (center, in dark overcoat), manager of a New York Giants, waits with a group of selectees outside the induction center at Camden, N.J., April 24, where he passed a pre-induction physical examination and was assigned to the army." Based on the newspaper clipping and a stamp on the reverse (not shown), this photograph was taken on April 24, 1944.
