Mercantile BBC versus Continentals ball

DescriptionDark blue and gold painted baseball. Painted dark blue with gold "sign" containing black print which reads: "M.B.B.C.WON FROM THE CONTINENTAL BBC NOV. 8TH 1860, Score 41 to 12." Appears to have a "beltless seam" that stretches the entire circumference of the ball.

Bio/Historical NoteDark blue and gold painted baseball from the earliest known inter-Philadelphia match between the Mercantile BBC and the Continentals, which was held on November 8, 1860. The score of the game was 41 to 12.
