Tony Gwynn Batting slide
Datebetween 1985 and 1990
DescriptionA full-length action color image of Tony Gwynn batting. Gwynn, facing the camera, wears a San Diego Padres home uniform, batting gloves, and helmet. Adopting his batting stance, Gwynn stands with feet apart, knees slightly bent, looking over his front right shoulder, in the direction of the oncoming ball. Placing left hand over right on the grip of the bat, Gwynn holds the bat over his left shoulder. The mitt of the catcher can be seen to the right of Gwynn. Captured in-game, an occupied stadium and dugout can be seen in the background. Based on the specific design of the uniform worn by Gwynn, this image was taken between 1985, when San Diego introduced pinstripe uniforms with brown and orange lettering, and 1990, when they retired this style.
