Tony Gwynn Batting photograph
Datebetween 1985 and 1994
DescriptionA black-and-white full-length action photograph of Tony Gwynn batting. Gwynn, facing the camera, wears a San Diego Padres home uniform, batting gloves, and helmet. Adopting his batting stance, Gwynn stands with feet apart, leaning forward, looking over his front right shoulder, in the direction of the oncoming ball. Placing his left hand over right on the grip of the bat, Gwynn holds the bat above his left shoulder. Captured in-game, an occupied stadium can be seen in the background. Based on the specific design of the uniform worn by Gwynn, a pinstripe uniform that lacks piping, this image dates from 1985, when San Diego introduced pinstripe uniforms, and 1994, when they added piping to the jersey.
