DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Charlie Gehringer captured sliding into third base as the third baseman, Red Rolfe, attempts to tag him out during a Detroit Tigers vs. New York Yankees game at Yankee Stadium. An unidentified umpire looks on to make the call. Gehringer is dressed in the Detroit Tigers road uniform whereas Rolfe is dressed in the New York Yankees home uniform. Gehringer autographed the front of the photograph and wrote, "Best Wishes Chas Gehringer." Based on Gehringer and Rolfe's uniforms and their time with their respective teams this photograph was taken between 1938 and 1942.
