DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Charlie Gehringer, of the Detroit Tigers, captured sliding towards home plate as New York Yankees pitcher, Atley Donald, tries to tag him out. Donald has missed the ball and the baseball is visible over Gehringer's head. Donald is bent over with his glove touching the ground. Gehringer is dressed in the Detroit Tigers home uniform whereas Donald is dressed in the New York Yankees road uniform. Based on Gehringer and Donald's uniforms and their time with their respective teams this photograph was taken in 1940 or 1941.
