DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of a Babe Ruth Plaque at the former site of Melrose Park in Providence, Rhode Island. It reads "George Herman "Babe" Ruth/ 1895-1948/ On this site formerly stood a ballpark known as Melrose Park. Baseball legend Babe Ruth played his home games here as a member of the Providence Grays of the International League in 1914. As a pitcher, Ruth appeared in twelve games, helping Providence win the league championship that season./ Given by the City of Providence and the Society for Americans Baseball Research 1995."
