DescriptionA scorecard from a game played by the Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago Cubs on September 13, 1998 at Wrigley Field. Sammy Sosa of the Chicago Cubs hit his 61st home run in the 5th inning and his 62nd in the 9th inning. The scorecard was filled out with pencil, and some parts are highlighted in yellow, including a note reading "Sosa 61 62!"
Bio/Historical NoteThe 1998 home run chase in Major League Baseball was between Mark McGwire of the St. Louis Cardinals and Sammy Sosa of the Chicago Cubs that resulted in both players breaking Roger Maris's long-standing record of 61 home runs. McGwire broke Maris's record on September 8 against the Cubs and finished with 70 home runs. Sosa finished with 66.
