Unidentified 19th Century Baseball Player photograph

DescriptionA black-and-white copy print of an unidentified nineteenth century baseball player taken between 1880 and 1900. The image is a full length portrait, taken in a studio. The date of the photo was determined through an examination of the elements present on the uniform. In particular, the quilted padding present on the uniform pants and the design of the shoes are consistent with uniform trends popular between 1880 and 1900. The player stands on a patch of fake grass in front of a backdrop showing a field, posing as if he was about to start a pitching windup. The player appears to be wearing a rudimentary baseball glove on his left hand. There appears to be a team logo on the player's cap, but it is unidentified. The player is looking directly into the camera. There is slight damage present on the left side of the photo.
