Renae Youngberg cap

DescriptionCream-colored cap with blue "GR" appliques on the front and a faded black button at the top crown. Underside of the bill is green. Interior brown leather sweatband extends only from side to side across the front. The back of the cap has elastic in the seam. "Renae Youngberg" is handwritten in black marker on the interior underside of the sweatband.

Bio/Historical NoteCap worn by Renae Youngberg who played third base for the Grand Rapids Chicks of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League during the 1953-54 season. The cap was part of the replacement uniform worn by the Chicks after their locker room and the grandstand at Bigelow Park was destroyed by a fire in 1952. The replacement uniforms were recycled from the then defunct Peoria Redwings.
