Challenge the Yankees board game

Date1964
DescriptionBoard game contained within a multi-colored cardboard box. On the box is "Challenge the Yankees: The Official Baseball Game by Hasbro" along the top in a red and blue strip and an image of old Yankee Stadium over most of the top of the box. The left side of the top of the box has images of three players wearing the numbers 7, 15, and 2. A red box on the corner of the top reads "Major League All Stars / from your favorite teams / play against the Yankees / Hitting... Stealing... Bunting... / You Manage the Yankees / and the All Stars / You select the lineups / You choose the Starting Pitchers / You decide the Strategy / In this exciting New Baseball Game / Each Player performs as in a real game." The bottom of the box is white on all sides. The sides of the box repeat the title of the game as on the top of the cover. The board game is made up of two pieces, a green field with four holes for pegs and a green scoreboard which props up with stand. Both boards are made of cardboard. The scoreboard has wheels to turn to indicate score, inning, runs, and outs, and five boxes to hold orange, light blue, yellow, red, and dark blue cards for singles, doubles, triples, ground balls, and fly balls/fouls, respectively. There are also two manager strategy cards, a series of blank line-up sheets, two dice, two pegs, and three decks of player cards including Yankees, All-Stars, and blank ones that are partially filled in.
