DescriptionRectangular white linen towel with a red and green design around the perimeter edge showing repeating pairs of crossed baseball bats separated by baseballs. "1955 / Play Ball!" is in red and green lettering at the top center. "Baseball / Crying Towel" is in red lettering at the top and bottom of the towel. There are cartoon-ish depictions of baseball players, umpires, catchers, and fans in various baseball game-themed scenes over the entire front surface of the towel. There are phrases and excuses in red and black lettering interspersed with these scenes. Phrases range from "I Was Safe By A Mile But The Ump Was Blind!" to "The Pitcher Tried To Bean Me!" to "Please, Don't Move Lady, I've Got It!" The back side of the towel is blank.
Bio/Historical NoteDecorative towel featuring a baseball motif. Called a "crying towel," this towel features cartoon images and phrases that players might use as excuses as to why they did not play well.
