DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Nellie Fox captured running out onto a baseball field from the dugout. Fox has a large smile, is holding a baseball bat in his right hand, and is wearing his baseball mitt on his left hand. He is dressed in a Chicago White Sox road uniform. The dugout is visible in the background and towels are hung up on the back wall. Yankee stadium is visible in the background as well. Several unidentified fans are scattered throughout the stadium seating. The caption on the back of the photograph (not shown) states, "Nellie Fox, mainstay of the Chicago White Sox at second base, trots out of Yankee Stadium dugout May 16 to begin his 543 consecutive game for the Sox. The White Sox beat the New Yorkers on their home grounds 4-3 in 11 innings. Fox scored both the tying run in the ninth and the winning run in the 11th. He got one hit in three trips to plate." Based on the caption, this photograph was taken on May 16, 1959.
