DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Nellie Fox captured smiling widely and using a towel to dry his head on July 28, 1963. Fox is dressed in a Chicago White Sox road uniform. The caption on the front of the photograph (not shown) states, "Chicago White Sox second baseman Nellie Fox wipes his head in the dressing room after hitting his 2,500 hit in the major leagues in today's game with the Baltimore Orioles. Fox became the 40th player in the major league history to reach the 2,500-hit mark. Fox's blow, his only one in the game, was a line single to center field in the sixth inning. Fox later scored the tie-breaking run as the Sox went on to beat the Orioles, 4-1."
