Bob Feller Pitching Sequence photograph

Date1946 April 16
DescriptionThree black-and-white full-length images of Bob Feller demonstrating his pitching form. Wearing a Cleveland Indians road uniform, each photo represents a position during the pitching process of Feller. The first depicts Feller's starting stance, the second his stride, when his body is extended out in a lunge, and the third, his follow-through. Below the three images there exists a typed caption (not shown), that reads, (CX6) CHICAGO, APRIL 16-- FELLER MOWS DOWN WHITE SOX IN OPENER WITH THREE HITS--CLEVELAND INDIANS PITCHER BOB FELLER TAKES THE MOUND AND SETS THE CHICAGO WHITE SOX DOWN WITH THREE HITS TO START HIS FIRST POSTWAR SEASON TODAY. HERE, TYPICALLY, HE GETS THE SIGNAL, ZOOMS THE BALL OVERHAND WITH HIS SHOULDER IN THE THROW, AND FOLLOWS THROUGH (L. TO R.). CLEVELAND WON, 1-0. 1946. On the reverse (not shown) stamped in red ink is the date APR 26 1946, a possible publication date of this image. Based on the provided caption this photo was most probably taken at League Park in Chicago, IL.
