Honus Wagner photograph

Datebetween 1933 and 1935
DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Honus Wagner sitting at the edge of a dugout. Wagner is glancing inside the dugout while holding a baseball bat between his legs. He rests each of his feet on the steps leading into the dugout. Wagner is dressed in the Pittsburgh Pirates home uniform. A clipping on the back of the photograph (not shown) states, "Brooklyn baseball fans were all set to give Hans Wagner, the greatest shortstop who ever donned a baseball glove, a royal welcome to the borough today as part of the celebration of Hans Wagner Day. Baseball's famous 'Flying Dutchman' of by-gone days, shown above in his uniform as coach of the Pittsburgh Pirates, was to be given the key to Brooklyn by Borough President Hesterberg before the game at Ebbets Field." Based on his uniform and his time as a coach for the Pirates, this photograph was taken between 1933 and 1935.
