DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Monte Irvin with wife and daughter leaving the hospital with a broken ankle. The image caption on the reverse (not shown) reads, "Monte Irvin on the Mend--New York\u2026.Monte Irvin, New York Giants outfielder who was injured during a preseason exhibition game, is on the mend. Doctors at Harkness Pavilion hospital said his progress warranted release from the hospital and he is pictured here waving a greeting as his wife, Dee, wheels him out. Sitting on his lap is daughter, Patty, 4. Irvin will be fitted with a walking iron and it is expected that he will be able to get about without crutches soon."
