DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of, from left to right, Mel Ott, Red Kress and Bubber Jonnard captured after a day of practice during spring training. Ott is sitting on top of a trunk with his leg up and his shoes off. His upper body is leaning against a table as he looks at Jonnard. Kress is sitting on the table propped up on his elbow and is looking down at a piece of paper that is on the table. Jonnard is sitting on a chair with his arm resting against its' back and is looking towards the piece of paper in front of Ott. A discarded pair of cleats are visible under the table. All three gentlemen are dressed in New York Giants road uniforms. A newspaper clipping is affixed to the back of the photograph (not shown) and states, "Clubhouse Meeting. Miami, FL--With warm spikes removed, manager Mel Ott and coaches Ralph (Red) Kress and Clarence Jonnard (left to right) compare mental notes of day's activity on the diamond at New York Giants training camp in Miami. 2-14-46." Based on the newspaper clipping, this photograph was taken on February 14, 1946.
